We are looking for an intern to work on our research and value chain development activities, interested in international trade, development and sustainability.
Who we are
ProFound is an international consultancy company. From its beginnings as a pioneer in natural ingredients trade promotion in 1990, ProFound has grown into a team of experts in developing sustainable value chains for agro-biodiverse products and natural ingredients.
ProFound assists entrepreneurs in emerging markets. We help to capture economic opportunities from production to market entry. We aim for local development that lasts: adding value for producers and sustaining local biodiversity.
Our value chain development and trade promotion services range from market and gap analysis, business planning, to rural finance and matchmaking. We work in different regions of the world, cooperating closely with entrepreneurs, sector associations and international buyers. For us, sustainable development is a core value and a priority in doing business.
To assist our work, ProFound is looking for interns that are interested in learning more about international trade, development and sustainability and wish to gain work experience in the world of development cooperation. Activities of interns fall primarily within the field of market analysis, identifying opportunities for developing country producers for exporting to the EU. In your team, you will be working on collection and analysis of reports, statistics, and a variety of articles and newsletters, but are also directly engaging with sector actors by interviewing European companies, organisations and experts. Interns are also expected to translate outcomes in well-written, action-oriented reports.
Depending on running projects, available time and your interests, you might be involved in other projects as well. Perhaps most importantly, this internship will allow you to take a look in the development sector and bring the knowledge acquired during your studies into practice. For more information on ProFound’s projects, please refer to our website.

- Proven knowledge of economics and international trade in particular;

- Master’s degree in (international) economics, international development geography, or related fields;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Excellent interviewing skills;
- Does not take no for an answer;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Well-motivated and flexible team-player, able to conduct dedicated tasks independently;
- Good computer skills, particularly with Word and Excel.
ProFound is looking for interns that can assist us for 4 months. The intern should be available for minimally 32 hours a week. The preliminary starting date of the internship is 21 March.
You will work in a dynamic and supportive atmosphere and in a small and motivated team. You will have the opportunity for an inside look and work-side-by-side with experienced professionals. A designated coach will help you to achieve your learning goals, while contributing to ProFound’s mission.
ProFound offers financial remuneration and compensates travel expenses.
If you are interested in working in our team, please send your application letter, resume and learning goals in English to firstname.lastname@example.org, 11 March 2022 at the latest.
