From 14-17 February, the twelve exhibitors of the Organic Africa Pavilion (OAP) met 820 potential business leads at BioFach, the highest ever since ProFound re-established the pavilion in 2016. This year, the pavilion exhibited the only suppliers from Madagascar, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Ghana at BioFach.

Africa is a major source for organic natural ingredients and products in everyday use, such as spices and cocoa. However, African suppliers at international trade fairs are few, as there is limited export promotion support in Africa. ProFound organised the Organic Africa Pavilion for the third time in a row as interest and satisfaction from both suppliers and market keeps growing for natural ingredients from Africa.

“The record number of interested buyers proves that we can overcome obstacles for suppliers and help develop Africa’s organic sector with the Organic Africa Pavilion.” – Aafke van Sprundel (managing director, ProFound)

New partners at the Organic Africa Pavilion

This year, the Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC) joined the Organic Africa Pavilion. Both NABC and ProFound work to improve trade from Africa to Europe. NABC brought five companies from Madagascar, supplying spices, vegetables and fruit juices.

“Together with ProFound, we hope to offer a comprehensive trade promotion package to facilitate business linkages.” – Mackenzie Masaki (Director Business Development, NABC)

The FairWild Foundation joined the pavilion in its 10 year anniversary, as did our partner Fairventures. In addition, our partner Agro Eco Louis Bolk Institute brought four suppliers from Ghana.
